Reno

Reno (and brother Tahoe) are wild Mustangs adopted from the BLM adoption program.  When I first moved to Chuluota and dreamed of having horses (again), I wanted to get a rescue.  Little did I know what I was getting into with the Mustangs.

Reno did not get the Mustang message that they are supposed to be small, stocky, hardy horses.  He got the hardy part, but definitely not the small.  He is easily 16.2 hands and 1200 pounds.  His head is so large he has to wear a draft size halter.

Reno grew too quickly as a weanling and ultimately had to have surgery at the University of Florida Veterinary College.  He had his check ligaments severed because he bones grew faster than his ligaments and he was experiencing difficulty with his balance.  To this day, we say "Reno can't walk and chew gum!"  He has very poor balance, except when running free in the pasture!  He is smart like a fox and has managed to get the best possible life - meals delivered daily, no work required.

His best attribute is his companionship to his brother, Tahoe.  I sometime say, they are one horse with two heads and 8 legs.
